A MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

With our team of 30 spread out all across the globe, we won't lie and tell you that it's been easygoing putting this magazine together. Not only does our international setup deprive us of any common physical office, it also means we can't apply for support from any national grant. Not that we want to, because grants sometimes come with strings attached (e.g., we'll give you money only if 30% of each issue from now on showcases our country's writing!)—we take our mission of diversity very seriously.

In the midst of our difficulties these past two years, what has kept us going are not so much the accolades (although it felt nice when 3A:M Magazine nominated our young journal for Magazine of the Year) but the numerous letters from readers (including writers such as Etgar Keret, Jane Hirshfield and Tomaž Šalamun) expressing support. Shortly after our October issue went up, Forrest Gander pledged a donation towards our campaign, and, very movingly, also this video, kindly taken for us by Alyssa Migliori:

Now, to coincide with our 2nd anniversary, we have launched our Indiegogo campaign. Please take a look at the following video.

If you like what you see, head over to our Indiegogo Page now and give what you can. By contributing to our Indiegogo campaign, you will not only be supporting writing across linguistic and political borders, but you'll also receive a range of our special rewards—limited-edition postcards, tote bags, posters, art prints, and signed books—as evidence of our deep gratitude.

Alternatively, if you prefer to bypass Indiegogo and pledge a direct donation, please contact me via donate@asymptotejournal.com. We are also open to sponsorships by individuals and organizations.

Thank you for supporting Asymptote. The future of our not-for-profit journal depends on you.

Yours sincerely,

Lee Yew Leong,
Editor-in-Chief
