Summary

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Literaturhaus had to be shut down on the day of the event and the venue was changed last minute to the bookshop Møllegades Boghandel situated just next door. Despite the hiccup, Asymptote's first-ever appearance in Copenhagen was a great success, attracting more than 70 audience members, with half of the crowd spilling outside into the warm summer evening, seated on portable chairs and listening in on the event broadcasted by an external loudspeaker. Lasting 3 hours, the event was emceed by the charming Maria Dønvang from ark books (a co-organizer of the event) and introduced by assistant managing editor Lynette Lee and Denmark editor-at-large Katrine Øgaard Jensen from Jensen's Brooklyn apartment via Skype. After everyone gave their readings (including Ursula Andkjær Olsen, from the island of Bornholm, also via Skype), past contributor Lennox Raphael moderated a panel discussion with Martin Aitken, Thomas E. Kennedy and Niels Hav on the scintillating subject of translating Danish literature.
