Senior editor (Chinese) Chenxin Jiang‘s translation of Xiao Bai’s acclaimed literary noir French Concession is published by HarperCollins in the US this month. Furthermore, an excerpt from Chenxin’s forthcoming translation of Swiss author Zsuzsanna Gahse’s novel Volatile Texts was featured on the Three Percent blog.

Senior editor Florian Duijsens was a judge on Three Percent’s Women’s World Cup of Literature, where he judged a match between Can Xue’s The Last Lover and Eleanor Catton’s The Luminaries.
Contributing editor (Chinese) Francis Li Zhuoxiong bagged his second Golden Melody Award for Best Lyrics at the 26th Golden Melody Awards Ceremony held in Taipei on 27 June 2015. The annual Golden Melody Awards is the Sinophone world’s equivalent of the Grammys. Slovakia editor-at-large Julia Sherwood’s translation of Tony Judt’s essays The Memory Chalet into Slovak was published in Bratislava in June as Penzión spomienok. Julia has also collaborated with her husband on a translation into English of The Night Circus, a collection of wild, surreal and erotic short stories by Slovak feminist author Uršuľa Kovalyk (sample here) and are looking for a publisher.
Denmark editor-at-large and blog editor Katrine Øgaard Jensen has signed a contract with Berlin-based Broken Dimanche Press to translate the award-winning Danish poetry collection Det 3. årtusindes hjerte by Ursula Andkjær Olsen into English. Her translation sample was just awarded a grant from the Danish Arts Foundation. Additionally, she was recently awarded the Danish grant Glashofs Legat, as well as a grant from the Oticon Foundation. This month, Katrine was also a judge on Three Percent’s Women’s World Cup of Literature, where she judged a match between Tatiana Lobo’s Assault on Paradise and Elvira Navarro’s The Happy City.
MARGENTO (Chris Tanasescu), Romania & Moldova editor-at-large, has presented a paper on his graph theory applications in poetry at the Thirteenth International Conference on New Directions in the Humanities. The paper outlined the relevance of this new approach and underscored the importance of the Graph Poem project (developed together with a team including Dr. Diana Inkpen and RAs Bryan Paget, Blair Drummond, and Andres Lou) as a first-time big data and data intensive approach to poetry computational analysis, criticism, and creative writing. Furthermore, the contemporary Romanian erotic poetry anthology Moods & Women & Men & Again Moods edited by Ruxandra Cesereanu (Deputy EiC of Steaua, Asymptote‘s Romanian partner journal) with an introduction by MARGENTO (who also coordinated the English translations) is forthcoming from Tracus Arte (Romania) and Calypso Editions (USA).
